Syll

Privacy policy

Last updated October 27, 2026

Syll is the owner's manual for your home. It is made by Datapoynt Systems ("we"). This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].

What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email, phone number if you add one, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never see your actual password.
  • Your home record: what you or people you share with put in Syll, such as the address, appliances, model and serial numbers, paint colors, maintenance, history, pros and documents.
  • Photos and files you upload, such as appliance stickers, receipts and inspection reports.
  • Phone notifications: if you use the Syll app and allow notifications, a device code that lets us send reminders to that phone.
  • Payments: if you buy a plan, Stripe handles your card. We see the plan, the dates and the last four digits, never the full card number.
  • Basic logs: when you sign in, your IP address for security, and error logs that help us fix problems.

How we use it

  • To run Syll: show your home record, send maintenance reminders, and let you share and hand off your home.
  • To read appliance stickers, inspection reports and answer "Ask Syll" questions. When you use these features, the photo, report or question and the parts of your home record needed to answer it are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it for us and does not use it to train its models.
  • To email you about your account, your reminders, and things you asked for. We don't send marketing to homeowners without asking.
  • To keep Syll secure and working.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else sees it

  • People you invite to your home can see its record, except documents you mark private.
  • Your real estate agent, if Syll was a closing gift: they can see that you opened it, when you were last active, and how many tasks you've done. They cannot see your home record after you accept it.
  • The next owner, only if you hand the home off when you sell. Private documents stay with you.
  • Buyers, only if you turn on a public "Syll Certified" page. It hides serial numbers, documents, pros and personal details, and you can turn it off any time.
  • Service providers who help us run Syll: our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare), email (Resend), payments (Stripe), AI (Anthropic), and phone notifications (Google Firebase and Apple). They only get what they need to do that job.
  • We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Keeping it and deleting it

We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete any item, document or home at any time. You can delete your whole account from Settings in the app or on the website; see how to delete your account. When you do, your account and any home you own alone are deleted right away. Copies in our backups are erased within 30 days. We keep payment records our accountants and tax rules require.

Security

Syll uses encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and checks on every page so people only see homes they belong to. Files are stored outside the public website and are only served to people with access. No system is perfect, so if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Children

Syll is for adults managing a home. It is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

  • Turn reminder emails and phone notifications on or off in Settings.
  • Download your home record any time with the Home binder.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, to fix it, or to delete it, by emailing [email protected].

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect.
